Mon 29 January 2018 by Franz KirstenWhat is it?
Wikipedia
(GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a free and open-source raster graphics editor used for image retouching and editing, free-form drawing, converting between different image formats, and more specialized tasks.
Gimp - what I use it for
- Enhance quality of and/or modify plots taken from papers for talks
- Create schematics (i.e. free drawing)
- scale/retouch images and photos
Get it, docs, manuals
- linux distributions like Ubuntu ship it as a package (get it via apt-get)
- check out the gimp website for documentation
